Novec 1230 fire protection fluid is a halon replacement for use as a gaseous fire suppression agent. It is an environmentally friendly choice for clean fire protection where water from a fire sprinkler would damage expensive equipment or where water-based fire protection is impractical.
It is an ideal solution to keep computer and server rooms, control centres, documentation storage vaults, substations and other facilities safe and operational. Being a liquid at room temperature, it can also be used in pump applications. However, it gasifies immediately after discharge into a total flooding system. A fully fluorinated analog of ethyl isopropyl ketone, it operates in a low pressure system and has a fast flame knock-down time and zero ozone depletion potential. The atmospheric lifetime is five days.
Using Novec 1230 technology, Sperosens has successfully completed several fire suppression projects in coal and platinum mines, as well as in the petrochemical, oil and refinery industries. The company specialises in fire detection and suppression and has also successfully installed and commissioned several compressed air foam (CAF), dosing, deluge and aerosol systems.
