Compact digital temperature controllers from Temp-Tek

April 2013 Temperature Measurement

They are small but not insignificant in controlling one of the most measured and controlled mediums in the field of process control after the measurement of time. These new 48 x 48 mm, microprocessor based digital temperature controllers are designed to replace their larger and less sophisticated analog counterparts, doing the same job but without requiring the support staff to tune and calibrate them.

The devices are suitable for all factory floor operations where reliable and flexible control is required. In the past huge ungainly rack mounted controllers were used to monitor bearing temperatures. Now, using these single standalone controllers, it is possible to monitor each bearing individually with alarm and trip functions and not be reliant on separate power supplies and remote modules.

“Our sales of this size of controller exceeds 8 000 units per year,” says Roy Embling, owner and managing member of Temp-Tek.

“We always have about 5000 on our shelves at any one time. We buy in bulk from TOHO and this gives us the edge in purchasing power to offer a world class unit at acceptable prices.”

Along with the CN-40, Temp-Tek offers the TOHO TTM-000 series which includes the TTM-004 that can output analog and digital signals, communicates with PLCs HMIs and other integrated systems. It, along with its sister controller the TTM-200 series that has dual control outputs, alarms, memory functions, ramps and universal inputs, make up a formidable array of control functionality.

The CN-40 is ideal for replacing replacing mechanical thermostats and anywhere an adjustable, digital controller must have either PID or simple On/Off control with adjustable hysteresis.
