Rugged IP camera for extreme conditions

March 2013 Sensors & Transducers

Moxa has released a rugged IP camera that operates reliably in temperatures ranging from -40 to 75°C without a heater or cooling fan. The VPort 36-1MP is an industrial-grade H.264 box-type IP camera that combines HD resolution and advanced IVA (intelligent video analysis) technology to enhance surveillance system efficiency while delivering state-of-the art video quality. Optional housing and PT scanner accessories are available for both indoor and outdoor installation.

Industrial rugged design and extreme reliability

Moxa’s IP cameras deliver unparalleled reliability thanks to the exceptional tolerance of extreme temperatures. This industrial-grade IP camera captures HD images and delivers reliable video streaming in environments ranging from deserts to snow-covered mountains, it is ideal for oil and gas, rolling stock and intelligent transportation system applications.

The VPort 36-1MP cameras are IP-30-rated and provide Level 3 EMI/EMC protection for consistent performance in rainy, dusty and high EMI environments. The housing is tamper-proof and IP68 rated for outdoor applications and the cameras comply with EN 50121-4, C1 D2 ATEX zone 2 and NEMA TS2 standards, to ensure reliable performance when exposed to extreme shock and high levels of EMI. In addition, the VPort 36-1MP cameras are rated as safe to operate in explosive environments.

The cameras support a variety of lenses for different applications and are compatible with C/CS mount lenses to meet any viewing angle and distance requirement. A removable IR-cut filter and automatic colour mode switching makes them suitable for both day and night use. Highly-tuned ROI (region of interest), BLC (back light compensation), and WDR (wide dynamic range) functions enable exceptionally clear images, while the optional de-mist function ensures the best image quality in rainy, snowy and hazy environments.

High video performance and network security

The VPort 36-1MP cameras can encode analog into both H.264 and MJPEG videos and can transmit up to three independent streams (2 in H.264, and 1 in MJPEG) simultaneously. Advanced video encoding technology enables the cameras to support up to 30 FPS for each of the H.264 and MJPEG streams and advanced network security functions, such as 802.1x and SSL/SSH, are also provided to prevent unauthorised access or data hijacking, a critical feature for many surveillance applications.
