Portable analysis instrument for Memosens

February 2013 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

With the new Portavo models 902, 904(X) and 907 Knick presents the first portable analysis instruments for the measurement of pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen with Memosens technology. Depending on the model, analog sensors and optical dissolved oxygen sensors may also be used.

Furthermore, the Portavo analysis instruments are uniquely designed for industry requirements: The model 904X is an analysis instrument for the measurement of pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen, which is certified for use in Zone 0 and 1. All Portavo housings are manufactured from high-tensile plastic and are rated IP66, suitable in rough industrial environments: an integrated cover, which protects the unit during transport or when used in the field acts as a stand when used in the laboratory. The sensors are stored in the integrated sensor quivers, which protect them from drying out.

The variety of models offers a solution for all requirements: the Portavo 902 is the basic, economical unit for the measurement of pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen. The Portavo 904 has the EX option and is also available as a multivariable instrument. The Portavo 907 is the ideal unit for a user with advanced requirements and also allows the connection of the optical dissolved oxygen sensor. While the models 902 and 904 have static segment displays, the Portavo 907 has a high-resolution, daylight-readable colour TFT display. The Portavo 904 and 907 also allows charging of rechargeable Li-ion batteries and access to the data-logger via a USB port. The software Paraly 112 allows remote control of these models as well as the parameter setup. The new software has been given a facelift and now includes the functions previously only available with the Memosuite-software. Using Paraly 112 measured values, calibration protocols and values can be saved, displayed, documented, printed and analysed.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
