The EZ-Guard point system is an economical single-beam noncontact safety device offering high perimeter and access guarding range (up to 70 m). The system is an economical solution for personnel safety applications. The system's low price and long range, combined with an output response time of only 24 ms, make it a good alternative for guarding dangerous machinery, including assembly stations, moulding presses and automated production equipment.
The new system is a diverse-redundant microcontroller-based, opposed-mode, optoelectronic 'light point' with a self-checking design that meets Type 4 control reliability standard per IEC 61496-1 and 2. The system consists of an emitter and receiver pair that are optically synchronised, eliminating the need for an external controller or sync wire.
The EZ-Guard point is lensed to provide a very narrow beam divergence and field of view. The system, available in short range, 0,8 to 20 m and long range, 15 to 70 m models, can be used with angled mirrors to simulate a two-beam system or it can be used in conjunction with a safety light screen system to augment guarding capabilities. Multiple systems can be used to create a custom beam pattern. System features include selectable external device monitoring and selectable output: trip output with auto reset or latch output with manual reset.
Clearly visible status indicators on the front of each sensor to keep operators constantly informed of system conditions and operating status. Emitters and receivers feature a highly visible seven-segment LED diagnostic display that indicates specific problems or configuration conditions.
EZ-Guard emitters and receivers are compact, measuring only 52 x 55 mm and feature multiple mounting options and removable wire terminal blocks for easy installation. The receiver has two diverse-redundant solid-state safety outputs capable of switching 24 V d.c. loads up to 0,5 A. An optional relay interface module is available for AC loads or loads requiring higher currents. Discrete captive contact relays may also be monitored and driven directly.
