Founded in 1952 by John Chamberlain Royce, Temperature Controls is a well-established company built on a rich and interesting history and backed by 60 years of wisdom and experience. The company operates as four separate divisions, namely Baumer Electric, Temperature, Process and Environmental.

* The process division has three main areas of expertise: measurement of pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen; level control and pressure transmitters. In 1993 the company installed its first new computer system and introduced the LTH electrodeless conductivity systems to the African market. Temperature Controls has been business partners with LTH since 1974 and has enjoyed the business relationship that they have built. In 1995 Temperature Controls became the sole agents in Africa for Australian-based Novatech Controls, a leading manufacturer of oxygen analysers.

* The environmental division addresses the specialist heating, ventilation and air-conditioning market (HVAC). In 1994 Temperature Controls were appointed as agents for E+E Elektronik to focus on the manufacture of relative humidity and temperature sensors for use in both the process control and HVAC industries.

* The temperature division is the largest. Aside from the RKC range of products falling within the temperature division, Temperature Controls also represents companies such as Williamson Corporation.

The organisation prides itself on the working relationships it has with, among others, LTH Electronics, Hansford Sensors, RKC, Novatech, Nohken, Finetek, Ellison Sensors, Broadley James, Fenwal, Williamson Corporation, E+E Elektronik, Sekonic, Temperature Technology, Thermocouple Components, Lufft, Monarch Instruments, APCS, S-Products, Grand Expert, Okazaki, Deltatrak, Monitran and AOIP.
