DC-DC converters from MeanWell

June 2012 Electrical Power & Protection

Mean Well has expanded its range of DC-DC converters with three new models covering power levels from 3 to 60 W.

The SPU03 is a 3 W device in a single-in-line package measuring 20x8x10 mm. It exhibits up to 88% efficiency and can operate in an ambient temperature range from -40 to 90°C. Equipped with a standard pin assignment, it features 3000 VDC input/output isolation, low ripple noise, CE/FCC compliance and built-in short circuit protection, making it suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom and distributed power architecture applications.

The 30 W SKM30 series is housed in a 5x3x11 mm dual-in-line package and possesses up to 90% efficiency over the -40 to 55°C temperature range. Equipped with a standard pin assignment, the series features 2:1 input range, 1500 VDC input/output isolation, short circuit/overload/input and output over-voltage protection, low ripple noise, built-in remote on/off control and output trimming. The fully encapsulated packaging withstands the influence of dust and moisture in harsh environments, making it suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom and distributed power architecture.

Finally, the dual in line 60 W converters of the the SKA60 devices have up to 93% efficiency and can be operated at full load without any heatsink from -40 to

+55°C, and up to +70°C with derating. Fully encapsulated packaging aids the converters’ heat dissipation and allows them to withstand the influence of dust and moisture in harsh environments, meaning they are suitable for industrial control, telecom/datacom, vehicle, vessel, backup systems and any application that uses rechargeable batteries as the power source.
