Software configurable dissolved oxygen analyser

July 2001 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Innovative features have been incorporated into the LTH range of dissolved oxygen analysers. The instruments are able to accept virtually any type of membrane-dissolved oxygen sensor through software configuration. They also incorporate salinity compensation, automatic pressure compensation and enable temperature to be displayed and retransmitted as a current output or assigned to a setpoint.

Housed in either flush panel-mounted 96 x 96 DIN standard enclosures or an IP66 field-mounted housing, the instruments can provide up to four relay outputs and two current outputs with supply voltage options from 18 V to 240 V a.c. or d.c. Relays provide on/off, latch, time proportional or pulse proportional outputs with variable hysteresis and time delays if required. An optional alarm output can be programmed to energise on instrument status or measurement error.

The user is provided with the flexibility to select either galvanic (Mackereth) or polargraphic (Clark) type sensors with software selection of temperature compensator type, bias voltage and membrane coefficient.

For applications which require automatic sensor cleaning, any one of the setpoint relays can be configured as a clean initiator. During the clean cycle, the instrument can be programmed to go off-line to hold the current outputs and disable the control relay outputs. The clean duration, recovery time and interval period are all programmable, whilst preconfigured set-ups can be restored from independent back-up locations. On-line help consists of a series of text error messages on the display, which is a large backlit multifunctional display with simple text messages.
