Honeywell boosts smart temperature transmitter portfolio

Honeywell has announced enhancements to its popular STT250 temperature transmitter, which is ideal for control and safety temperature measurement applications. The new STT250 features include advanced diagnostics that allow employees at every level of plant operations to manage the health of their field devices proactively, prevent failures before they occur, and reduce plant down-time due to unscheduled repairs. Maintenance teams can also use the advanced diagnostic information stored on the transmitter to allocate resources more effectively, while plant engineers can use on-board transmitter and sensor information for more accurate process analysis and greater plant efficiency.
All HART variants of the STT250 are also compatible with the HART 6 open standard, allowing an even greater level of device health monitoring. The new devices also support other open standards, such as the Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL) and certified Device Type Manager files, for fast start-up and commissioning.
“Many of our customers have told us they want to improve interoperability between their field devices and host systems. This coordination helps them get the data they need to manage their assets, optimise their plant and lower their total cost of ownership,” says Anand Krishna, marketing director, Honeywell Process Solutions. “Now that the STT250 temperature transmitter has wider support for open standards and advanced diagnostics information, it can help them achieve these goals by boosting both interoperability and flexibility.” The STT250 also features TUV SIL2 safety certification, allowing use with safety applications that require hot backups.
