IDC Technologies is offering workshops on practical communications and networking for engineers and technicians.
The course is designed for anyone with a need to understand the techniques required to use and apply industrial communications technology, as productively and economically as possible. This would include persons such as: I&C engineers, process control engineers, electrical engineers, consulting engineers, process development engineers, design engineers, control systems sales engineers, maintenance supervisors, control systems applications engineers.
The course covers:
* A fundamental understanding of data communications.
* How to troubleshoot RS232 and RS485 links.
* How to install communications cables.
* The essentials of industrial Ethernet and local area networks.
* How to troubleshoot protocols, such as Modbus.
* A grounding in Fieldbus and DeviceNet standards.
The workshops will be run at the following venues on the dates indicated:
Johannesburg, 23 and 24 July 2001
Durban, 26 and 27 July 2001
Cape Town, 30 and 31 July 2001
