TDK-Lambda has developed a new series of ‘green’ power supplies that comply with the energy saving requirements of Energy Star and the ErP (Energy related Products) directive. Ideal for use in light industrial equipment for broadcast and communications applications, the 250 W GWS series AC-DC power supply uses innovative design techniques to combine high efficiency, high power density and low standby power. The range is well suited for indoor and outdoor LED information displays and digital signage, traffic controls, test and measurement and entertainment systems.
The compact convection cooled product is designed to fit into spaces previously requiring a fan cooled model. Rated at 250 W the power supply is offered in four models with nominal outputs of 12, 24, 36 and 48 V. Outputs are user adjustable by up to 20% depending on model type – and the 24 V and 36 V models have a peak power rating of 300 W. With a flat efficiency curve averaging 93%, from 25 to 100% load, the GWS250 range can be operated at full load from -25 to 50°C ambient temperature and up to +70°C with suitable derating.
The series features overvoltage, over temperature and over current protection, remote on/off, DC good signal and a voltage programming function as standard and carries environmental and safety approvals including EN55022.
