Comtest has announced the new Fluke 1650B series of multifunction installation testers. The series includes the 1652C, 1654B and 1653B which builds upon the rugged performance of the earlier 1650 series, but has been redesigned to make testing even more productive.
The Fluke 1650B units verify domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations. They ensure that fixed wiring is safe and correctly installed to meet international standards IEC 60364, HD 384 and UK requirement BS7671.
Fast loop testing displays two measurements at the same time
The 1650B series shows two measurements on a large clear display. For example this can show PEFC/PSC and loop impedance results at the same time negating the requirement to run the tests separately, thus halving the test time of other loop testers.
The units feature an additional new high-current loop test which gives extremely fast measurements when testing in circuits where no RCD’s are being used. All the models in the series offer both non-trip and high current tests so the user can select depending on the application.
In addition, fast L-N, L-PE and N-PE voltage measurements are possible using the mains cord and with no need to change measurement connections. High resolution Looptest allows users to measure low impedance loop test results, and high PSC/PEFC values.
Easy and safe operation, rugged and lightweight design
An earth Volt touchpad detects earth voltages above 50 V to warn the user of potentially dangerous situations. The instruments are supplied standard with fused test leads to comply with HSE Guidance note GS38. These latest leads from Fluke have gold plated contacts to ensure reliability and repeatability of testing. The instruments are supplied with SureGrip test leads and clips for a comfortable, reliable grip.
For ease of use a rotary dial indicates clearly which function is selected and provides access to all functions in one place to avoid complex multi-level menus. A large display with backlight uses clear symbols and has an exceptionally wide viewing angle for easy and safe readings. There is PASS/FAIL indication for RCD test results, and a variable RCD current mode for customised settings.
Memory and documenting results
Equipped with a built-in memory the 1650B series can store test results on site without the need for an additional device. Each stored measurement consists of the test function and user selectable test references like the cabinet and circuit number. Upload the data after testing to a computer to prepare professional reports.
Extended memory capability uses an 8 digit number to identify circuits and can share up to 1500 results. Documentation mode has been extended to store additional wiring combination information together with the insulation and continuity test results.
Complete kit with remote test probe and zero adapter
All models have detachable standard 4-mm leads which are interchangeable with other standard accessories and can be replaced if damaged or lost. A durable hard case protects the instrument in tough field conditions.
A slim probe with remote test button enables initiation of a test without the need to look at or access the front panel, ideal when probing hard to reach points. The remote probe is powered by the tester and so always available. A zero adapter ensures easy, reliable and accurate test lead and mains cord compensation. The adapter can be used for multiple varieties of mains plugs and test accessories like probes and alligator clips.
