OSIsoft regional seminar held in Johannesburg
April 2011
News
OSIsoft held its inaugural Regional Seminar at the Melrose Arch Hotel on 24 February. The event was a success by all accounts with a good mix of local PI users, PI system integrators and potential customers attending. This is one of a number of one-day events held all around the globe to complement the annual international User Conference – held this year in San Francisco.
We were delighted to have Martin Otterson, EMEA VP for Sales from Frankfurt, who gave an interesting talk on the important issue of sustainability and the necessity and benefits of a real-time infrastructure; this in support of the global initiative which attracted over $100bn in energy project investments during 2010. Carol Jackson, a member of the US Business Development Team, gave practical insights into integrating PI information into the SAP ERP system to help manufacturing companies achieve accurate production reporting and real-time condition based maintenance in their plants.
We greatly appreciated the presentations from a number of our customers including Anglo Platinum who spoke on its enhanced downtime reporting and energy management projects, Mondi Paper on its use of PI to reduce incidents in the mill, Accenture on remote monitoring of power plants and Mopani Copper from Zambia on its use of PI to improve visibility and reporting on a smelter. Regional technical manager, Raymond Grobler, gave an overview of the PI system development road map, as well as insights into the importance of the PI 2010 system. Raymond also spoke about the OSIsoft Virtual Campus collaboration forum for PI solution developers. All these presentations are available at www.osisoft.com.
This year we will also be holding another new event – the Europe, Middle East, and Africa Regional Seminar in Barcelona from 24-25 May, details available on the website.
