Photoelectric and inductive sensors in hygienic design

Baumer has launched a range of photoelectric and inductive sensors for use in hygienic and wash-down applications in the food and beverage industry. The new sensors, with their plane, groove-free V4A stainless steel housings are EHEDG-certified, Ecolab-approved, and the materials are FDA-compliant. Complemented by the range of EHEDG-certified reflectors and Ecolab-approved cables, Baumer now offers a complete solution for position detection in food manufacturing and processing.

For the splash zone, the wash-down concept developed by proTect+ Baumer guarantees high sensor performance and lifetime. The sensors are exposed to changing cycles in addition to the IP68 and IP69K tests to ensure high process reliability and reduce the maintenance effort.

A highlight is the photoelectric sensor FNDH 14. This SmartReflect sensor can use existing stainless steel machine parts as a reflector, forgoing the need for an additional target making installation easier and reducing the maintenance effort. The inductive sensors have a particularly large operating temperature range from -40 to 100°C, offering versatility of application from the processing of frozen produce to deployment in areas with harsh CIP processes requirements.
