Training courses for proffesional 'hands-on'learning

Feb 2000 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

As an independent neutral training body with over R1,5 million invested in equipment for hands-on use by trainees, Festo Didactic is offering specialised industrial control systems training courses. The courses are aimed at all levels, from newcomers to advanced practitioners and cover: the fundamentals of control technology; hydraulics and proportional hydraulics; pneumatics and electro-pneumatic logic as well as PLCs. They are generic and not product-specific, enabling artisans, learner artisans, machine operators, foremen, technicians, engineers and draughtsmen to gain a certain skill set in order to understand control technology both in theory and in practice using real equipment.

The courses for March and April this year are as follows:

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
