Wireless temperature meausrement for industrial applications

ASSTech’s Jumo Wtrans RF temperature probe and matching multifunction receiver allows wireless temperature measurement at either fixed or mobile locations. The transmitter is designed as an insertion probe and protected by a waterproof housing. The transmission frequencies used are largely insensitive to external sources of interference, to permit transmission even in tough industrial environments. The probe is available with fitting lengths from 50 to 500 mm and includes a platinum chip resistor as the sensing element that covers a measurement range from -30 to 85°C.
The receiver provides the measurements on four analogue outputs (0(4)-20 mA, 0-10 V) and via an RS485 interface that uses a Modbus protocol. Each receiver can manage up to 16 Wtrans transmitters through the RS485 interface.
System parameters can be varied and the required settings made through an easy to use setup program. Alternatively, all the functions can also be called and adjusted via the keys and display on the receiver itself. Parameters such as linearisation, scale start and end, filter constants, offset and value storage can be set separately for each analogue output. The availability to select the parameters as the trigger for an alarm opens up a wide range of application and monitoring options for the user, with all outputs on the instrument being electrically isolated.
