SKF has introduced to its mechatronics portfolio the Telemag CPI advanced family of telescopic pillars designed for use in industrial automation systems, including workstations, assembly lines, packing stations and dispatch areas. The pillars are available as two or three section units, and have been developed to enable work benches, tables or platforms to be automatically raised and lowered to provide an ergonomic working environment that complies with the latest health and safety legislation.
Each pillar incorporates a powerful 24 VDC linear actuator integrated into the body of the base section to give smooth, accurate and easily controlled movement of the columns, at operating speeds of between 0,6 and 1,86 metres per minute under full load. Control of the actuator can be provided by simple hand, foot or desk mounted switches, with SKF also being able to offer the option of an encoder for applications that require greater levels of precision and repeatability.
Stroke lengths from 200 to 700 mm are possible coupled with the ability to withstand high bending and offset loads; for example, the three section unit with a 700 mm stroke can withstand 4 kN applied directly above the pillar, and up to 1 kN at a distance of 900 mm from the centre of the unit.
