The multipoint thermometer iTHERM TM911 from Endress+Hauser was designed for oil and gas processes. The multipoint thermometer is primarily used for the measurement and control of temperature profiles in reactors. Application areas include high pressure and temperature processes in explosive hazardous environments. The thermometer complies with the highest international safety standards as well as all required guidelines which are necessary for use in aggressive industrial environments.

The instrument enables the simultaneous measurement of up to 12 temperature points along a thermowell. The temperature points enable the profiling of the different reactor compartments thus giving information regarding the temperature distribution. It consists of a connection box, a single or double safety chamber, a thermowell tube with a flange process connection as well as individually exchangeable measurement inserts. All individual components of the thermometer are available as standardised replacement parts.

Safety chamber

The safety chamber is a unique, patented safety concept with up to three process barriers. Advantages include replacement of probes while in operation without negating safety, therefore increasing plant productivity by reducing process downtime. For leak detection within the safety chamber it is recommended that a pressure transmitter such as the Cerabar S is used. The multipoint’s modular construction allows selective exchange of modules such as the thermowell assembly, seals, safety valve or safety chamber. Replacement of components is dependent on pressure, temperature and the presence of corrosive process media.
