Banner Engineering has introduced a new line of high performance retro-reflective sensors that detect and count clear, translucent or opaque objects. The QS30ELVC guarantees fast and reliable sensing performance with irregularly shaped objects or those with reflective surfaces. With a 500 μS response time, the sensors are perfectly suited for various applications in industries such as the pharmaceutical and food industries (eg, sensing of translucent plastic packaging) and also in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
With an automated algorithm that compensates for dust, contamination and ambient temperature changes, the IP67 rated sensors can be used in harsh environments. The new sensors provide three selectable thresholds to optimise performance for a wide range of objects being detected. Setup is performed by aligning the sensor with its target and using the ‘teach’ button to set the switching point. The compact housing has a large, clearly visible bar-graph display for easy configuration and monitoring of signal strength during operation. Power, output state and configuration are indicated via LEDs. The new QS30ELVC can be side mounted, using integral mounting holes, or front mounted, using the 30 mm threaded barrel. Two types of reflectors are included with each sensor.
