At the recent SPS/IPC/Drives show Banner Engineering presented its complete wireless portfolio for industrial use in the factory and process automation. In addition to its point-to-point solution, DX70, and the network version, DX80, the automation specialist is now offering the new DX99 series with Atex approval for zone 0. A new solar panel providing self-sufficient power supply for external devices completes Banner’s wireless portfolio. The wireless series, developed from the ground up by Banner, is a comprehensive and flexible wireless solution for industrial use worldwide. Possible applications include integration of expensive-to-access remote fill level control systems, substitution of abrasive rings at rotary indexing tables or wireless communication for driverless transport systems.
Banner’s wireless families support various signal types, from analogue to binary contacts or frequency signals, to digital protocols via RS232 or RS485. Depending on the individual application, the user may chose between a cost-effective point-to-point solution – a gateway with one node – or a network architecture in which one gateway can operate up to 99 nodes. Banner’s wireless solution transmits within the 2,4 GHz band and allows safe and reliable wireless communication using the standardised transmission protocols TDMA (time division multiple access) and FHSS (frequency hopping spread spectrum). Gateways and nodes feature IP67 protection and can be operated in ambient temperatures between -40 and +85°C.
