Lubricant analysis is a vital part of a predictive maintenance strategy. However, until now, this analysis has been almost completely related to oils, despite the fact that around 80% of bearings are lubricated with grease. In response SKF has developed a method to evaluate grease condition directly in the field. The new SKF Grease Test Kit TKGT 1 is the latest addition to the Lubrication Platform range of products.

The method includes three different tests: consistency, oil bleeding, and contamination evaluation. These have been designed to provide a good understanding of the condition of the grease and enable decision making in the field based on the guidelines supplied for proper interpretation of the test results.
