Data Acquisition & Telemetry

Recorders for all applications

October 2009 Data Acquisition & Telemetry

As one of the world’s large industrial recorder manufacturers Endress+Hauser has been supplying paper and paperless recorders since 1980 with an estimated 120 000 installations worldwide. All products and components are designed so that they are easy to install and simple to handle: project engineering and international approvals are also available.

The company says that its research and development efforts have always been focused on the realisation of user requirements. The consequent decision to concentrate on modularity in mechanical engineering and soft- and hardware design has resulted in:

* Universally usable basic devices.

* Interesting expansion possibilities and options.

* Special application solutions.

* Devices for OEM applications.

Easy-to-read graphic displays combined with power failure secure storage and manipulation monitored measured data archiving guarantees safe traceability of process sequences in industrial applications such as:

* Oil and gas.

* Water and wastewater.

* Power plants and energy.

* Chemical and biotechnology.

* Metals and mining.

Endress+Hauser product manager Trevor Fletcher says that the list is very representative of the demographics of industry in South Africa. He adds that three recording systems in particular are right for the SA market: Memograph M; Chromalog T and Ecograph T.

Memograph M

Perpetuating the success of the Memograph product line, Memograph M is a next generation videographic recorder that offers high-end functionality, modular construction and an intuitive operating system.

Memograph M
Memograph M

Ideal for process measurement and control applications in the water, power and food industries the recorder’s functionality, flexibility, secure data recording, informative measured value analysis and high-definition measurement display allow Memograph M to provide ‘a window into the process’. By means of Profibus or MODBUS the device can be expanded up to 40 channels and can be connected to scada and PLC systems. A loop power supply and two analog outputs provide additional flexibility.

Ecograph T

A state-of-the-art multichannel paperless recording solution that is easy to use and comes equipped with a host of features to simplify data acquisition. The compact Ecograph T is designed for space saving applications and offers secure data storage via the internal digital memory and the lockable/sealable flash memory card.

A number of varied measured signals are recorded using up to six universal inputs. Three digital inputs are available for event messages, quantity recording or operating time recording. Flexible display modes mean that the measured signals can be shown as multichannel digital numeric displays, bargraph or as curves similar to those of standard strip chart recorders giving the user a number of easily read display options.

Chromalog T

A compact industrial strip paper recorder with a chart width of 100 mm available as a 1, 3 or 6 channel dotting recorder, the Chromalog T uses Z-fold paper for recording. The paper can be easily removed and replaced during operation due to a unique design of the paper cassette.

Measured values are also clearly displayed in specific engineering units on the easy to read 5-digit LED display. Exceeding any of the individual channel alarm set points is identified by a status indication in the LED display.

The commissioning of the device is quick and easy due to its menu driven set-up using push buttons. The device is operational in just a few minutes without the use of a PC or additional software.
