After launching SDR-240 (240 W) and SDR-480 (480 W) high performance single output slim DIN rail series, MEAN WELL continues to extend its product coverage to lower wattage applications. For the growing demand of low to medium wattage with high performance and space saving requirements, SDR-120 (120 W) series, the AC/DC isolation Class I power units have been introduced to the market.
With up-to-date circuit design, SDR-120 series possess up to 91% efficiency and can provide 120 W continuously or 180 W peak power for 3 seconds at ambient temperatures up to 60°C using only free air convection. With built-in active PFC function, SDR-120 is a full range AC input (88-264 VAC) switcher that fulfils the requirement of EN61000-3-2 for harmonic current. The slim 40 mm design helps save space on the rail and also makes it 30% smaller in size compared to its predecessor the model DR-120. Meanwhile, SDR-120 also has 5-10% higher efficiency than the models of DR-120 in response to the trend for greener power and energy saving concepts.
Other standard functions include DC OK relay contact, on panel LED indicator, and protection for short-circuit, overload (constant current limiting, shut down if over 3 seconds), over voltage, and over temperature. To fulfil the requirements of marine and semi-conductor related usage, SDR-120 also complies with GL and SEMI F47 norms in addition to UL, CUL, TUV, and CE certificates. Suitable applications are factory automation, semiconductor fabrication equipment, marine-related installation, and electro-mechanical applications.

To listen to a symphony is one of the world’s great gifts. A conductor must ensure that instruments play beautifully as a whole and are kind to the ear and uplifting to the spirit yet shine in their individuality. The same can be said of a DERMS, which must effectively manage diverse energy sources to avoid compromising the grid’s integrity.
