Accurate information gathering with SKF MARLIN.
The SKF MARLIN family of handheld mobile computers are the frontline tools for operators in an operator driven reliability (ODR) programme. These rugged, high-performance devices replace verbal or paper inspection trails by documenting inspections with accurate, consistent and actionable information.
MARLIN I-Pro
The MARLIN I-Pro data collector enables users to collect, store and analyse machine vibration, process and inspection data quickly and easily. The unit enables trending, comparison with previous readings, alarm alerts and more. The unit’s graphical-user interface (GUI) enables users to get up and running quickly, with minimal training required. On-board software provides pushbutton assistance, offering instructions to guide the user to the quickest and most appropriate response to changes in machine condition.
Collected data may then be uploaded to a host PC for further review, analysis, and uploaded computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for follow-up action.
The high-resolution, backlit display with 1/4 VGA, along with the touch screen and ergonomic keypad make the MARLIN I-Pro easy to operate, and viewable even in the darkest locations. Drop tested, dust-tight and water resistant (IP64 certified), the MARLIN I-Pro is designed to withstand even the most hostile industrial environments. The MARLIN I-Pro is available in NI Class 1, Div 2 and Non-NI certifications and combines with the SKF wireless machine condition detector (WMCD) to provide a safe, fast and flexible system for operator inspections. The wireless configuration eliminates the need for cables while measuring velocity, enveloped acceleration and temperature.
MARLIN S-Pro IS
The latest device in the range is the SKF MARLIN S-Pro IS intrinsically safe handheld data collection and analysis system, which can be used in all ATEX Zone 1 operating environments. The device features an IEC class-two laser bar code scanner, enabling data to be read quickly and simply from a wide variety of industrial and process plant and equipment; alternatively, data such as vibration and temperature can be gathered using smart studs or via a combination of smart studs and bar code scanning.
The S-Pro IS incorporates a powerful Intel XScale processor to ensure fast and accurate data handling and to support complex on-screen graphics. Once data has been gathered, the MARLIN S-Pro IS provides comprehensive processing and reporting views using conventional Windows based displays and sophisticated graphics for quick and precise on-the-spot analyses. Data can also be uploaded to higher level process control systems via a compact docking station, using USB or serial connections, or directly via an integrated Bluetooth wireless connection.
In each case, data communications can be managed using SKF’s powerful @ptitude Inspector software, which provides extensive analysis and reporting options, with the data plots, notes and images gathered using the MARLIN S-Pro IS being embedded directly into reports.
This effectively enables complete machine and process documentation to be created quickly and simply and in a format that can be exported to emails, as html or standard Microsoft Office documents.
