Offered by Instrotech, the Vishay model 178 extensometer is a bolt-on strain gauge designed to measure force on any load-bearing structure.
Advantages include high accuracy, two bolt holes, IP66 hermetically sealed protection, alloy steel construction and optional ATEX certification for operation in hazardous areas.
Ideal for weighing, stress and fatigue monitoring and level control, the device has application in tanks, agricultural equipment, rolling mills and structural loading measurements on bridge structures. The design also allows multiple sensors to be permanently mounted for more complex stress profiling and analysis.
The extensometer provides a real solution for non-intrusive level measurements for materials that are subject to uneven build-up, bridging or sidewall collection. Another ideal application is for liquids or wetted materials that are not suited for direct contact level measurement.
The extensometer can be retrofitted to existing structures without compromising the integrity of the vessel or structure.
