In 1982, Elen Electrical Enclosures was founded and Sarel enclosures were for the first time introduced to South Africa by the then managing director, Jary Kapral. Since those early days Elen has grown into an enclosure-market leader, with a reputation for service excellence and quality products. The Sarel brand has formed the principle scope of supply for Elen since the beginning, and remains so today.
Sarel, a specialist in sealed equipment and global benchmark in the electrical enclosures sector, still retains strong links with its origins in 1956 – the people, the vocation for innovation, a strong spirit of leadership, and a dedication to providing the highest levels of quality and design in its products.
In 1991 Sarel was acquired by the Schneider Electric Group and has, in recent years, developed its business with increased co-operation and integration within Schneider. It is now one of nearly 120 Schneider Electric-owned brand names. Today, in line with a strategic decision, these product lines are coming together under a single unified brand – Schneider Electric. In the second half of 2009 Sarel will undergo a phased unification into the new brand. Through a planned, managed and assisted programme, Elen aims to do everything possible to keep the transition process as short as possible.
It is a name-change only. This project will have absolutely no impact on the products themselves, which will physically remain as they are, designed and manufactured to the same exacting standards expected of Sarel, and indeed those of Schneider Electric.
As enclosure specialists, with 27 years’ experience with Sarel and a strong customer base, including a nationwide network of distributors, Elen is optimistic and excited about the future prospects of the re-branding. Newly-appointed managing director of Elen, Andy Kapral, says, “For us this name-change is a key to the door of new opportunities, and product quality and service excellence are the hinges on which it rests.”
