November 2008Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration
Temperature Controls offer a range of 2-wire accelerometers with 4-20 mA outputs, specifically designed for condition monitoring applications in the process and other related industries.
Various mounting threads are available plus a choice of quick-fit or adhesive mount studs
Maintenance engineers rely on accelerometers to detect increasing levels of vibration from bearings, shafts and other rotating components on motors, fans, pumps, etc, to warn of inefficient operation or even possible future failure. This knowledge allows them to maintain quality and avoid the high inherent costs associated with plant shut-down.
The units are robustly constructed for demanding operating environments. Housed in welded stainless steel they provide high levels of mechanical performance and stability, and will interface directly with most PLC and BMS systems to provide continuous monitoring of acceleration, velocity or bearing condition – protecting machinery from damage due to excessive vibration.
There is a range of choices offering side or top entry connector, tough braided cable and a submersible version sealed to IP68 and capable of being submerged to a depth of 100 m. In the near future it is planned to launch an ATEX and IEC Ex certified, intrinsically safe version of the HS 420 for use in potentially explosive areas.
The range of accelerometers is supported by associated equipment including connection and switch boxes, portable vibration meters and cable assemblies.
