The SL2000 telemetry system, initially marketed as a fire detection system, finds much wider application in multipurpose telemetry due to its robustness and modular design.

The system can utilise a variety of cable types and share on existing network systems. It can also be organised into a large number of sub-networks; each separated by a router. The actual monitoring or control service is provided on a service network utilising transceivers connected between the sub-network and the sensors or actuators. Transceivers can also connect to PLCs, to remotely monitor a control system situated far underground (eg mud press or booster fan).

SL2000 utilises standard scada systems, manages the measured information and provides control. SL2000 is compatible with most commercially available scada products including Citect, In Touch, FIX, Adroit.

The following applications can be considered for an SL2000 system:

p Fire detection (CO gas and smoke).

p Environmental monitoring (air flow, heat stress, differential pressure).

p Utilities (compressed air, water, dams, pumps).

p Process control (eg stope isolation, booster fans, mud presses).

p Ore handling (eg conveyor control and monitoring, weighbridges, silos).

p Safety and rescue (eg refuge bay conditions).

p Voice communications (compatible with Grintek's bandolier radio).

p Tracking (man tracking, loco tracking).
