Flow Measurement & Control

Flow control of small quantities

July 2008 Flow Measurement & Control

Honsberg, represented in South Africa by OMSA Valves and Instrumentation, has developed flow monitors, transmitters and flow indicators specifically for the flow control of small quantities. These devices for monitoring and measurement comprise a range of robust sensors that work on the piston, turbine and gear wheel principle. Even small quantities of liquid and gaseous substances cause movements of a ball or piston unit proportional to the flow, and actuate a limit value contact.

For continuous flow measurement, gear wheels produce a frequency signal proportional to the flow. The gear wheel sensors work independently of volume and viscosity, as a result flow control from 0,01 litres/minute is possible.

Honsberg offers three types of flow monitor (G, MF and RVM) for use in different applications. Type G is used for a maximal pressure of 16 bars for liquids with a viscosity of 10 cSt, and Type MF is used at a maximal pressure of 6 bars for liquids and gases in operating environments of up to 80°C and the RVM is adjustable and covers the lower end of range.
