Supporting the international trend towards increasing safety in process applications, Endress+Hauser has announced the launch of the iTemp TMT85 head transmitter.
Incorporating a multitude of functions, the versatile TMT85 features dual sensor inputs for resistance thermometers, thermocouples and voltage transmitters, and is suitable for use with 2-wire, 3-wire and 4-wire sensor technology.
The temperature controller is Foundation Fieldbus-based and offers easy and standardised communication. It is ideal for use in all critical applications that require signal reliability, long-term stability, high-precision and advanced diagnostics.
According to Trevor Fletcher, product manager – Temperature, Endress+Hauser, the TMT85 offers ease of operation with built-in sensor monitoring and device hardware fault recognition. “This product automatically detects the type of sensors that are connected, and is able to configure them accordingly.”
The main benefit of the dual input feature is redundancy. Should either sensor fail, operation continues seamlessly with no downtime experienced. This dual channel functionality fits applications needing the highest level of safety, availability and risk reduction.
The device offers safe operation in hazardous areas and meets international safety requirements, such as FM IS, NI; CSA IS, NI; and ATEX Ex ia, Ex nA.
