Endress+Hauser's new Smartgrad TMD 833 temperature transmitter has been designed for applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries where Hart functionality is critical for plant optimisation.
The new instrument has been equipped with a thick corrosion-resistant polyester powder coated IP65 housing which can be freely rotated 270°. This allows for wall and pipe mounting under harsh environmental conditions.
Equipped with a 4-digit LCD, the unit can provide a local display of process temperature. The transmitter also incorporates the Hart protocol which superimposes a digital signal over the unit's analog signal. This provides the user with richer, two-way data communication and allows for quick configuration using a handheld communicator or remotely via PC using Endress+Hauser's Commuwin II software. The built-in diagnostic functions ensure reliable operation at all times. Should the unit detect a sensor burnout or transmitter failure, an alarm condition is reached and the user is alerted immediately, making the TMD 833 good for areas where continuous temperature measurement is critical.
The TMD 833 is designed to accept input from one of three different RTDs (Pt100, Pt1000 or Ni100), two different resistance ranges (0 to 400 y and 0 to 4000 y) and nine thermocouples (B, J, K, N, R, S, T, L, and U). The unit also features a 4 to 20 mA output and self-diagnostics designed to detect sensor burnout or transmitter failure.
The TMD 833 is available in intrinsically safe Ex ia T4, T5 and T6 version as well as an explosion proof Ex d IIC T6 version, making it good for a broad spectrum of applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries.
