GIGAVAC has introduced a new 15 kV double pole double throw (DPDT) vacuum relay that is fully RoHS compliant. The G23 combines molybdenum moveable contacts with copper stationary contacts to provide low, 10 mΩ, contact resistance for increased current carrying capacity. The low, stable contact resistance provides negligible voltage drop in DC circuits and low signal loss at RF frequencies.

The relay incorporates oversize contacts and a strong actuator that give a high continuous current rating of 75 A. In addition to high continuous current carry, hot switching under load is achievable in most circuits. All of this capability is efficiently packaged into a relay that measures approximately 100 mm by 50 mm. The G23 is available with a nominal 26 V d.c. coil, which is ideal for drive circuits from 20 V d.c. through 28 V d.c.

The high load switching capability makes the unit ideal for switchgear systems supporting critical applications such as those found in airport lighting systems.
