CHI Control focuses on Nkomati
March 2008
News
CHI Control Engineered Solutions has recently delivered and commissioned low voltage motor control centres (MCCs) for phase one of a project at the Nkomati Nickel Mine, valued at R3 million. The company is currently busy with feasibility studies for phase two of the project.
Athol Hankey, business development manager, CHI Control Engineered Solutions, says “What differentiated us was that we were able to give the client a one stop solution and not a mix and match of products, this included our type tested locally manufactured panels that include internal arc protection.”
CHI Control provided the client with fully retractable MCCs, fitted with a range of components that included the IT PSNAP (PROFIBUS Starter Network Adapter) combination. The locally manufactured PSNAP is a PROFIBUS slave unit that provides the interface between the network and the companies IT Starter Range. These Eaton products, sourced by group company CHI Control Components, offer users a high quality product at a competitive price. The IT Starter is electronically controlled and comprises a contactor in conjunction with motor fault protection and current measuring circuitry. The unit is PROFIBUS certified with simple functionality and is capable of auto searching on the network. Software is included for self diagnostics, fault finding and commissioning. DIN rail or screw mounting options are available, with LED indicators provided on the inputs and outputs.
