The new Control Panel product line from Phoenix Contact has a high-level language fieldbus interface (HFI), integrated Ethernet and USB, which means that it can be simultaneously controlled and operated on a variety of tested hardware without licensing fees. The Control Panel is based on the open-source Windows CE architecture in which the hardware interfaces and decentralised I/Os are integrated. Users can also write and load their own modules in addition to the standard communication mechanisms over TCP/IP, SQL or other databases. A web server is already included.
Decentralised I/O data can be accessed directly over the existing Ethernet port. The product comes with a simple driver-interface HFI for this purpose.
The controller is available in two different performance classes: the CP 204 HLC ETH and CP 206 HLC ETH, which are based on the ARM9 platform and run at 100 MHz with 32 MB RAM, and the CP 310 HLC ETH and CP 310 HLC ETH IB, which are based on the XSCALE platform and run at 400 MHz with 64 MB RAM. There are different display sizes for both platforms with a 102 mm or 152 mm greyscale touch display in the 200 class and a 254 mm TFT touch display in the 300 class. A USB interface is also included for connecting input and output devices such as a keyboard, mouse or scanner.
The CP xxx HLC product line is specifically designed for serial systems and serial machine production. It allows users flexibility in programming almost any function in a high-level language, resulting in cost effective solutions.
