Baumer Electric has designed a pressure resistant inductive proximity switch in the IFRP model range. These have been designed for applications involving 350 bar during dynamic and 500 bar during static operation.

Inductive sensors in hydraulic engineering and similar industries are regularly subjected to pressures of this magnitude. The compact and extremely durable sensor housing is manufactured from 1.4104 chrome steel, while the actual sensing face is made of high-grade zirconium oxide. This complies with IP68 protection class requirements.
Hydraulic oils, whose additives can become extremely aggressive at elevated temperatures and high pressures, cannot harm this highly resistant ceramic material, even during extended operation. These pressure resistant inductive sensors offer a comfortable 2 mm sensing distance to permit safe and reliable detection of the position of hydraulic cylinders and valve slides under even the harshest industrial conditions.
These pressure resistant inductive proximity switches are available in dimensions of M12x1, M16x1 and M18x1. High-pressure resistant inductive sensors are designed to operate in a temperature range from -25°C to +80°C.
