Specialist company for industrial wireless formed

October 2007 News

Tabateq is a new company that has been formed in the UniTemp group to provide industrial wireless solutions to industry. For the last eight years UniTemp has been offering systems based on Elpro Technologies’ range of radio telemetry and wireless data modems to mines, municipalities and heavy industries like the steel manufacturers in southern Africa.

With the expansion of the products into wireless gateways, wireless instrumentation backbone products and industrial Wi-fi units covering an ever widening range of frequency, it has been decided to form a separate company solely concentrating on these technologies and to widen the field to include all types of industrially required wireless techniques.

Tabateq is headed up by an experienced engineer in this field, Willem Krige, who is currently product specialist at UniTemp and is well-known to industry in this field. Tabateq has an edge in providing the only wireless range that is designed for easy setup and field support by the client themselves.

Elpro’s products in particular are all shipped with comprehensive setup software included that allows seamless integration across multiple protocols in a system, making it easy to link any Profibus, Modbus, Modbus Plus, Ethernet and Devicenet in a single system, complemented by I/O radio telemetry modules into the same system. Linking various manufacturers' remote I/O, PLC or scada in a system has now become efficient to implement.

Current systems are running with clients such as Anglogold, De Beers, SAB, Columbus, Mittal, Sasol and Eskom, as well as a host of clients in the general manufacturing industry, municipalities and city councils.

From 1 September all Elpro Technology products will be available directly from Tabateq or through its specialist resellers.
