Red Lion provides native A-B tag support

August 2007 SCADA/HMI

Communicating with Allen Bradley's Logix series PLCs has been simplified with the addition of native tag support within Crimson 2.0, Red Lion's programming software for its G3 series of operator panels. Programming time is reduced since the exchange of data can be achieved without the need for tag 'aliasing'.

The tags of the target PLC are simply exported as a CSV file from Allen-Bradley's RSLogix 5000 software, and then imported into Crimson 2.0. The simple click of a button automatically creates matching tags within Crimson. A tool is also provided to create PLC tags within Crimson, avoiding the import process for the addition of other PLC tags. This new driver is available for all Red Lion Controls G3 HMI, Modular Controller and Data Station Plus series products.

With the powerful protocol conversion facility embedded in all G3 operator interfaces, Data Station Plus and Modular Controller (Enhanced Master) products, combined with the standard offering of three serial ports and a multiple-protocol Ethernet port, users can realise complete system integration and data transfer with third party PLCs, drives or other intelligent hardware.
