SAREL delivers a fresh breath of air

April 2007 Enclosures, Cabling & Connectors

Versatility, ease of installation, reliability and outstanding performance are among the benefits offered by the innovative new Tropico family of enclosure filter fans which has just been launched by Sarel.

With flow rates from 38 m³/h to 860 m³/h, Tropico filter fans provide from 10% to 30% more airflow for a given cut-out size than competitive models. The units are fully reversible, allowing them to be used for extraction as well as ventilation. The range consists of four physical sizes from 137 x 117 to 336 x 316 mm. A wide choice of AC and DC fan motors is available. These are of the latest generation with greatly improved performance and longer service life.

Sarel claims that the wedge profile of the grilles with overlapping slats deep at the top and progressively narrowing to the bottom of the grille is unique. Each slat is protected by the slat above and any water droplets are allowed to drip off without entering the filter media.

The fans and grilles are provided with a patented filter mat drainage system. There are three standard types of filters available: standard, fine and anti-insect. Special filters can also be ordered for applications in oily and greasy environments. Filter media exchange is quick and easy, even when the fan is running. The operator is protected from contact with moving parts by an internal grille.

The fan housings and grilles are moulded from plastic material with excellent mechanical strength and high UV resistance. The self-extinguishing material from which the fans are manufactured has excellent resistance to ultra-violet light, making them equally suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. The standard rating is IP54 and stainless steel IP55 protection kits are available. Standard colours are either RAL7032 beige or RAL7035 grey.

Installation is quick and easy: the fan or grille is clipped into a simple square cut-out. Dust and water tightness are assured by incorporating a foamed-in continuous gasket and a patented system of multiple fixing clips which accommodate various enclosure wall thicknesses. These mounting accessories are compatible with GRP, stainless steel and mild steel enclosures. To provide greater security, anti-vandal fixings are available as an option.

Accessories include thermostats, IP55 protection kits and EMC conversion kits.

A full range of fans, airconditioners, heat exchangers, enclosure heaters and vortex- and Peltier coolers is available from Elen Enclosures.
