Ethernet and Profibus connector modules for EPIC MC Series modular connectors

January 2007 Enclosures, Cabling & Connectors

The new EPIC Modular Ethernet and Profibus connectors provide a hardened, water-tight and electrically shielded industrial interface for cable-to-cable, cable-to-control panel, and cable-to machine applications. They can be used individually in a compact HBE6 housing or combined with other power/control modules to form a custom, application specific connector from standard off-the-shelf components.

The Ethernet module offers quick field assembly using standard RJ45 termination. It is a perfect mate to the Unitornic Etherline continuous flex Cat 5e cable in cable track and other motion applications. The Ethernet module also includes four power/control contacts to provide power to remote Ethernet devices.

The Profibus modules are designed for use with static and continuous flex shielded Profibus DP cable such as OLFLEX Unitronic bus cable. The receptacle module includes an integral bus tee to allow installation and removal of the plug module without disrupting communications on the bus. The EPIC Modular Series is based on the modular building block concept, which allows various modules of differing voltage and current ratings to be assembled in a single insert frame. The modular frames fit into standard EPIC industrial connector housings rated IP65 and NEMA 4, 4X, and 12. Applications include robotics, automation, industrial controls, and machine building.

Lapp Cable offers a complete one-stop solution for power/signal cable and connector needs throughout automation markets. Lapp Cable has one of the broadest range of products, which includes OLFLEX flexible, oil-resistant and continuous-flex cables, custom cable designs, cable track and accessories, EPIC multipin rectangular, pin and sleeve, and circular connectors, SKINTOP strain relief and cable glands, EPIC remote access ports, SILVYN flexible conduit and glands as well as harness assemblies and populated cable track.
