VIZNET technology contributes to making CIMNET MES a top 40 emerging vendor

January 2007 News

.Net visualisation framework, VIZNET, propels CIMNET, an international leader in the development of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and manufacturing intelligence software, to new heights. It was recently selected as a 2006 Top 40 Emerging Software Vendor by American magazine, Manufacturing Business Technology (MBT).

CIMNET's pioneering .Net technology was co-developed locally by development house Adroit Technologies. Dave Wibberley, managing director for Adroit says, "VIZNET is the culmination of over 30 man years of work. It delivers an Internet-capable, smart client, built on Microsoft's .Net framework, to the Adroit supervisory control and data acquisition (scada) system, as well as to CIMNET's MES product. It basically sets us up as the leading HMI vendor in this field and we are proud to be a contributing element to CIMNET's success."

Selection criteria for this year's picks of leading entrepreneurial IT vendors include factors such as product innovation, overall company direction, growth statistics, recent customer wins, and editorial insight. Inclusion in the 2006 40 Emerging Software Vendors listing, says Kevin Parker, MBT editorial director, "is indicative of the contribution these companies are making to the manufacturing industry, delivering benefits that extend from reduced inventories to shorter product development times. While these companies may never be another SAP or Oracle, and may not want to be, it is clear that innovative solutions continue to emerge from smaller, entrepreneurial software vendors."

VIZNET advantages for the Factelligence user include the fact that CIMNET can now run all of its MES visualisation components like overall equipment efficiency (OEE), machine downtime and production management through VIZNET, accessing aspects of the system separately or as a composite picture across an array of data sources. The company has also released a business intelligence (BI) module that allows for the integration of HMI, MES and BI that offers opportunities for great productivity gains, all in the same user interface application. With built-in interfacing for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP and JD Edwards, this MES system known by the brand name, Factelligence, can be found in a number of Fortune 500 manufacturing plants where it performs critical execution of the manufacturing process.

Jason Dietrich, vice president of sales and chief operating officer of CIMNET, commented: "We are very proud to have received this recognition from such an influential technology magazine. We have spent the last few years focusing our efforts on delivering high quality product and services to our customer base. Our efforts have paid off for us as we have built a solid foundation for the future while growing our business year after year. We appreciate this recognition by MBT."

Factelligence is distributed locally exclusively by Adroit Technologies.
