CitectSCADA now supports complete Allen Bradley PLC offering

Citect has announced the release of its latest native drivers for Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1500 programmable logic controllers (PLCs). This announcement means that CitectSCADA now supports the full range of Allen Bradley PLCs.

As part of the Allen Bradley MicroLogix communication solution, these drivers allow CitectSCADA users to benefit from both serial point-to-point communication via the full duplex DF1 protocol, as well as Ethernet communication via the 1761-NET-ENI module using the EIP protocol. They are capable of polling 3000 tags from a single PLC within 500 milliseconds on the baseline computer.

An early adopter of the drivers, Nathan Franklin, a controls system technician at BHP Billiton commented: "These drivers are easy to configure and greatly reduce programming time in getting Micrologix data into CitectSCADA."

The drivers are currently downloadable from the Citect website at http://www3.citect.com/driverweb/home
