The PCI-1622CU from Advantech is an eight-port RS422/485 PCI communication card that is compatible with the PCI 2.2 bus specification. The card provides high transmission speeds of up to 921,6 Kbps and is supplied with high performance 16PCI954 UARTs with a 128-byte FIFO to reduce CPU load.
The universal PCI connector is compatible with both newer 3,3 V signalling systems and the traditional 5 V signalling system. The PCI-1622CU offers both surge and isolation protection up to 2500 V d.c. protecting equipment against damage from ground loops in harsh environments.
A convenient utility program, ICOM Tools, helps in testing the card's performance by analysing the port status. Its menu commands and toolbar buttons act as a PC-based data scope that allows the user to set a trigger condition, capture the communication data and monitor the signal status.
