Over the years, Bender has remained one of the favoured suppliers of high voltage ground monitors to many well known mining switchgear suppliers. The Bender HW monitor series has been installed in mines as far afield as Poland, Russia, China and the Ukraine.
The HW 135 monitors a trailing high voltage cable in accordance with the German standard for mine safety in electrical installations, for ground fault, for open-circuit of the ground conductor, and for conducting objects penetrating the cable.
Ground fault monitoring is based on the residual current monitoring principle. The evaluation of the ground fault current is accomplished by processing the signal from the zero sequence current transformer HWW-11. The ground continuity monitoring loop is completed by means of the EV225 terminating device which is located at the load end of the trailing cable.
The HW 135 high voltage monitor can be used on cable lengths up to 3,2 km. It is ideal for monitoring supply cables without mechanical protection in underground mines and for ground fault clearing in underground mining. It can also be used for the monitoring of excavators with trailing cables, such as tunnel boring machines.
