Honeywell chairman and CEO, Dave Cote, visited South Africa this week, where he met with Honeywell customers from the financial, oil and gas, refining, and chemicals sectors.
During his visit, Cote also met with the south African leadership team and gave an update on the company's business goals and priorities in this strategically important market. His visit included the company's two main locations, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
According to Cote, South Africa is a priority for Honeywell. "We are very pleased with the results delivered by our team in southern Africa. We have many important customers in the region and a strong presence here is critical to our success. We plan to continue expanding our offerings in Southern Africa, as we expect great opportunities for Honeywell and our customers."
The company's growth in southern Africa reflects Honeywell's support for the transformation objectives of the black economic empowerment (BEE) framework.
"Supporting the aims of the BEE initiative and investing in local talent are key elements of our growth strategy," Jason Whitehead, regional general manager of Honeywell Process Solutions, Southern Africa, adds. "The African market has great potential, and Honeywell's global capabilities and technological expertise, combined with the unique local knowledge of our African employees is fundamental to our continued growth in southern Africa," Whitehead continued.
Honeywell currently employs 300 people in South Africa, including process control and security specialists with extensive experience in the key industrial and commercial markets important to Africa, such as: oil and gas; hydrocarbon processing; refining design; chemicals and catalysts; power generation; metals, minerals and mining; and pulp and paper.
Cote said: "Honeywell is committed to ensuring Africa has world-class expertise, industry sector knowledge and best-in-class support service to meet the needs of customers in Africa."
