Endress+Hauser has announced the appointment of Glenn Smith to the position of customer support technician in Port Elizabeth. With a B Tech Diploma in Chemistry and a National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Glenn has been acting as an outsourced support technician for Endress+Hauser in the area to date.

PREI Instrumentation has appointed Ghislain Harcq as sales engineer for Hach Analytical Products, with responsibility for sales and technical support in the waste water ­industry.

Endress+Hauser has announced the ­appointment of Jan Botha to the position of external sales engineer servicing Mpumalanga. Jan has 20 years experience in instrumentation, predominantly in the coal mining industry, of which he spent 10 years working for Eskom.

Shorrock Automation has appointed Jason Nieuwoudt as support engineer, Sydney Govender as food and beverage engineer, and Stephanie Naude as debtors clerk.

Poynting Antennas has appointed three new directors with effect from 1 August 2006. Sayed Mullah serves as financial director, Claire Nitch as sales director and Anthony Selikow as chief operating officer (COO).

Sayed Mullah was previously employed at Russell Bedford SA, where he was ­involved in audits of various local and ­international small- to medium-sized ­enterprises. He is currently studying towards his B Compt degree and has completed his audit articles at Russell Bedford SA.

Claire Nitch joined Poynting Antennas in March 2001 and has been actively involved in sales since her appointment. In addition to dealing with clients, she has also managed a fast growing sales team for the past five years. She graduated with a B Com in 2000. As a former professional squash player, she was ranked amongst the top 10 players in the world.

Anthony Selikow completed his BSc Eng (Elec) at Wits in 1990. He worked for a ­variety of companies, including Atio Telecomms, Grinaker Energy Technologies and Jupiter Radio Systems. He was appointed at Poynting in 2003 and was promoted to COO in 2005.

The previous Poynting Antennas Board consisted of the following executive ­directors: Dr Andre Fourie (CEO), Juergen Dresel (MD), Dr Derek Nitch (CTO), Thomas Abbott and Mark Haarhoff, with Coen Bester as non-executive member and Mike Hill as financial consultant to the Board.

Poynting Antennas is situated in Wynberg, Johannesburg. The company manufactures antennas for the commercial (for example WLAN and cellular) and defence markets.
