Compact system enclosure with versatile configuration options

October 2006 Enclosures, Cabling & Connectors

Due to the growing decentralisation in factory automation, more and more functions - from control and monitoring to propulsion and voltage supply - are being transferred to the front line. Rittal is now offering practical packaging solutions for these demands. The new standalone compact CM Compact Medium series of enclosures are marked by their high degree of flexibility in terms of size and interior construction. Compact control systems can thus be realised more cost-effectively and with a variety of attractive features.

The new compact enclosures offer features which TS 8 system users have been benefiting from for years: extra rails permit additional interior installation work with the comprehensive TS 8 accessories. They can be fastened to the side walls of the enclosure by existing bolts, ensuring maximum flexibility.

Greater flexibility is provided by supplying the unit with an open floor and many combinations of gland plates, on the basis of 'only buy what you need'. The gland plates serve to cover the complete opening in the base as well as the lid with an enclosure mounted at 180°. In addition, divided gland plates, cable screws or cable entry mounting angles are available. Cable entry plates and grommets are suitable for cable diameters of 3 to 47 mm.

Rittal has devised a 'novel' detail for rapid attachment of the mounting plate, which is simply inserted underneath and secured from above with a clip, leaving both hands free to screw-fasten the mounting plate.

The new CM enclosure is available in 14 different sizes: in a single-door or two-door version, with installation depths of 300 or 400 mm, in heights of 800 to 1400 mm and in widths of 600 to 1200 mm.
