Self-monitoring temperature sensor

Temperature Measurement
IFM Electronic has released details of the new self-monitoring TAD temperature sensor, which eliminates the need for time consuming and expensive calibration in the food and pharmaceutical industries. With an accuracy of 0,2 K from -10 to +100°C and 0,3 K from 100 to 150°C, the TAD sensor has an integrated temperature decoupling and hygienic connection for CIP and SIP applications.
Two different sensor elements monitor each other in the process to ensure that a developing sensor drift is detected and reliably diagnosed. The temperature proportional 4-20 mA signal enables processing via all common controllers and allows scaling for the respective temperature range. An additional output advises the user of 'drift warning threshold reached' or 'drift alarm threshold reached'. These thresholds can be preset individually using software. IFM guarantees reliable drift detection within the preset drift thresholds for a period of five years.
An integrated Aseptoflex thread enables hygienic connection to all common process adapters. The completely closed and welded housing guarantees IP 69 K protection, and the selected design reduces build-up of dirt and allows the sensor to be cleaned all around.
