Trinity Telecomms strengthens its wireless M2M position

June 2006 Data Acquisition & Telemetry

On the back of the recent announcement of Wavecom's acquisition of Sony-Ericsson's M2M Communications business unit, Trinity Telecomms, the official local distributor of Wavecom since 1997, has further strengthened its position as one of the leading providers of wireless communications solutions in the industrial, machine to machine (M2M) and mobile professional market.

William Hardie, MD of Trinity Telecomms, says: "Wavecom is revolutionising the wireless M2M market by introducing its Wireless CPU concept. The new Wavecom Wireless CPU, in conjunction with the Open AT operating system and application development environment, enables applications to be embedded in and run from the wireless CPU, thereby eliminating the need for a separate computer or processor. This minimises the need for additional hardware, reduces the required footprint specification and enhances the overall TCO for the finished product offering."

Trinity Telecomms, as a Wavecom distributor for the past 10 years, offers a blend of skills and expertise required to assist in the development of schematic and reference designs for its customers' unique business requirements. The company is also well positioned to provide the ongoing training and support to ensure seamless and effective implementation of this technology.

The company has geared up its after-sales support offering. During the first quarter of this year it has refurbished and expanded its technical support centre, and has become the first Wavecom distributor worldwide to have a Wavecom test and repair bench facility installed at its wireless lab.

In February this year, Trinity Telecomms hosted the first ever Wavecom University OpenAT training course in South Africa. The course was attended by senior technicians and software design engineers from companies across diverse industries, principally to develop and expand on their use of Open AT as an embedded application development platform for rolling out more intelligent and feature rich wireless M2M solutions. "The course was fully-booked, and the feedback has been excellent. We are already planning additional courses for later on this year to accommodate all those who could not attend the first course," says Hardie.

Trinity Telecomms, representative office for Hong Kong-based Fargo Telecomms Africa, is a value added distributor focusing on the provision and support of end-to-end wireless connectivity solutions which enable wireless connectivity into the cellular network operators for SMS, data, voice and fax requirements. As exclusive Wavecom distributors for sub-Saharan Africa, it offers the full range of Wavecom wireless connectivity products covering a wide range of industrial and consumer applications, including: automotive (vehicle tracking and fleet management), telephony (commercial pay phones and leased cost routers), machine to machine (POS, vending machines), telemetry (remote support, monitoring and metering of machines), and consumer applications (mobile wireless communications).
