A new addition to the Thermosight range of portable infrared thermometers from PREI Instrumentation, is the high performance HT version. Its measuring range is 250 to 1800°C and it has an accuracy of 0,75% of reading. The spectral range is 1,45 to 1,7 µm, which means that it operates at exactly the right wavelengths for measuring high temperatures, and is ideal for use with metals. The field of view focuses down to a spot of 4 mm at 800 mm, and has a distance-to-spot size ratio of 50:1 at larger distances.
Other important features of this new instrument is adjustable emissivity, a 20 ms response time, concentric laser sighting, a HI-Alarm facility, and an internal memory which can store a staggering 750 temperature readings. The memory can be accessed via the Thermosight HT's RS232 interface, and an analog 1 mV/°C output is also available. This HT Thermosight can operate in ambient temperatures up to 60°C, and comes in a hard carrying case.
