Temperature Measurement

A new partner in preventative maintenance

April 2006 Temperature Measurement

Quick, accurate and accessible information is key to production maintenance and efficiency. Improper preventative maintenance techniques can be inaccurate and costly to perform. Ineffective monitoring of moving parts, thermal problems, and temperature distribution can lead to production downtime.

The new, award-winning multifunctional infrared thermometer from testo features the latest technology in non-contact surface temperature, humidity and dew point measurements making it a great partner for preventative maintenance.

The versatility of performance of the testo 845 corresponds to that of two infrared measuring instruments. This is achieved with easy to operate switchable optics (believed to be the first on the market), which allows the user to measure a point as small as 1 mm at a distance of 70 mm, or adjust for far field focus with a distance to spot-size ratio of 75:1.

The 845 is capable of fast and accurate surface temperature measurement. Infrared surface scanning is fast and an optical and audible alarm sounds off when the adjustable limit values are exceeded. The 845 has a measurement accuracy within ±0,75°C and can function in the temperature range from -35 to +950°C. An exact measuring point is marked by the cross laser marking during measurement and the size of the cross laser changes depending on the distance.

The 845 has a probe input for type K thermocouple probes, which can also be used for determining the degree of emission of a certain surface material (degree of emission freely settable from 0,1 to 1,0).

These features make the 845 a suitable instrument for use in maintenance, production, R&D and electronics eg, for inspection of moving parts, determination of thermal problems, temperature monitoring and examination of temperature distribution and differences.

The optional integrated humidity module measures the ambient relative humidity, room temperature, dewpoint temperature and dewpoint distance to determine wet spots on walls, floors and ceilings. This feature makes the 845 useful in the airconditioning and building industries. For example monitoring of room air conditions with the humidity module and the early identification of condensation problems through dewpoint and dewpoint distance measurements.

The 845 has the ability to store 90 measurement protocols and comes with PC software for archiving and documenting measurement data. Online measurement is also possible via a USB cable enables measurement of current supply. Documentation on site is possible via the testo report printer.
